Feedeye privacy policy

You don’t have to register to use Feedeye; you may browse feeds and sets that are marked as “public” without logging in. However, you must login (or register) to create or edit sets of feeds, and to keep track of which items in a feed you have read.

If you do register, your details will be kept private and will only be available to someone who knows your password — which should only be you. You may, if you choose, allow some of your details to be shown publicly on your user profile page.

Your e-mail address will only ever be used if you forget your password, and to contact you occasionally about Feedeye. It will not be used to send you any other commercial e-mail or spam, and it will never be passed on to a third party.

Please note that any sets of feeds that you create will be available for anyone to view, whether or not they’re logged in, unless you mark them as private.

Statistical information, such as the time of your visit and the browser software you’re using, is recorded anonymously and used only in aggregate.

Feedeye terms of service

Last updated 5 March 2007

The Feedeye website, at http://feedeye.com (“Website”), is an RSS aggregator that allows users to create pages (“sets”) that combine information from any RSS or Atom feeds provided by other websites. Any use of the Website is subject to the following Terms of Service, as well as to our Privacy Policy as outlined above.

  1. Changes. We may, in our sole discretion, change, modify, suspend, make improvements to or discontinue any aspect of the Website and these Terms of Service, temporarily or permanently, at any time and without notice to you. Under no circumstances will we be liable for any such change, modification, suspension, improvement or discontinuance.
  2. Copyright and licensing. The Website allows you to view content created by others that has been made available through RSS or Atom feeds. All intellectual property in this content remains with its respective owner(s). All other material on the Feedeye site is copyright © 2006 — 2007, but you may copy it in accordance with the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution ShareAlike 2.5 licence.
  3. Feed aggregation. By creating a set on the Website, you represent and warrant that it does not contain explicit or offensive material, that it does not violate any law or defame any person, that it does not breach any person’s intellectual property rights, and that it does not contain viruses or other malicious software. We reserve the right to delete any set at any time if we suspect a violation of this Section 3.
  4. Registration. At your option, you may register a user name and password (“account”) on the Website. By doing so, you represent and warrant that you are over 13 years of age, that the information you provide during registration is true and accurate, and that you will promptly notify us if any of that information changes. We may use the information that you provide during registration (in particular, your e-mail address) to communicate with you about the Website, including without limitation, any changes to our Privacy Policy or other policies. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and password, and you are fully responsible for all activities that occur under your account. We will not be liable for any acts or omissions by you, including any damages of any kind incurred as a result of such acts or omissions.
  5. Responsibility for content and links. We have not reviewed, and cannot review, all of the material in the RSS and Atom feeds made available via the Website, including links to other websites, and therefore cannot be responsible for that material’s content, use or effects. By operating the Website, we do not represent or imply any endorsement for any material that is displayed from any feed, nor do we believe such material to be accurate, useful or non-harmful.
  6. Limitation of warranty and liability. Except as otherwise expressly stated, all content posted to or available from the Website is provided “as is”, and we make no representations or warranties, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title or non-infringement of proprietary rights. Except as otherwise expressly stated, in no event will we be liable to you or any other party for any direct, indirect, special, consequential or exemplary damages, regardless of the basis or nature of the claim, resulting from any use of the Website, or the contents thereof or of any hyperlinked website including without limitation any lost profits, business interruption, loss of data or otherwise, even if we were expressly advised of the possibility of such damages. You understand and agree that you obtain content or services through the Website at your own discretion and risk. (Some jurisdictions may not allow the exclusion of implied warranties or of liability for certain incidental or consequential damages, so some of the above may not apply to you.)
  7. Termination. We may terminate your access to the Website and use of your account, at any time and for any reason. Upon termination, all rights and obligations created by these Terms of Service will terminate, except that you will continue to be bound by those terms that would by their nature survive such termination, including without limitation those concerning intellectual property rights, disclaimers of warranties and limitations of liability; representations, warranties and indemnity obligations; and general provisions.
  8. General representation and enforceability. You represent and warrant that your use of the Website will be in accordance with these Terms of Service, with any applicable laws and regulations, including without limitation any local laws or regulations in your country, state, city, or other governmental area, regarding online conduct and acceptable content, and with any other applicable policy or terms and conditions. If any part of these Terms of Service is held invalid or unenforceable, that part will be construed to reflect the parties’ original intent, and the remaining portions will remain in full force and effect.
